The “Wes” behind WesVet, Dr. Wesley Schoonover is a native of West Virginia, where he grew up and completed his undergraduate degree at West Virginia University. After graduating from the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Wes worked as a critical care veterinarian at the Animal Neurology, Emergency, and Rehabilitation Referral Center in Commerce, Michigan. To become a well-rounded veterinarian, he also worked at a cat-only clinic, an animal shelter, and other small animal clinics in Michigan during this time as a relief veterinarian.
In 2018, Dr. Wes moved to Music City with his family, working as an associate veterinarian at a local small animal practice while he prepared to put down roots and fulfill his dream of opening his own clinic.
Dr. Wes and his wife, Ciera, have three children—sons named Rowan and Jude, and a daughter named Nora. The four-legged babies of the family include Jasper the cat and Sterling the dog. When Dr. Wes isn’t working, he and his family enjoy playing golf together, watching sports, traveling, and supporting the West Virginia Mountaineers (and the Titans!).
Dr. Wes has a passion for emergency medicine, neurology, and internal medicine cases. He is thrilled to start building relationships with pets and their families here in the Brentwood community by offering high-quality veterinary care for years to come.
Dr. Taylor Hays is originally from Atlanta, where he expressed interest in the veterinary field from an early age. He graduated from The University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2009, and was especially inspired by a study abroad in the South African bush. After graduation, he worked as a giraffe and elephant keeper at the Jacksonville Zoo before attending The University of Georgia (again) for vet school in 2010. He met Dr. Wes in freshman orientation that year, and they have been friends ever since!
After Vet School, Taylor completed a rotating small animal internal medicine, surgery, and emergency internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C. Upon completing the internship, he moved to Baltimore and joined Everhart Veterinary Medical Group; first as an associate and later as Chief Medical Officer. For the past 10 years, he has honed his skills in surgery, medicine, and especially dentistry–one of his main passions.
He lives in Brentwood with his wife Hailey and two boys, Ellis and Easton. They enjoy spending time together, being outdoors, traveling, cooking and eating great food, and watching the Georgia Bulldogs play!
Jaelyn is a Middle Tennessee native who grew up in Nolensville. She began working in veterinary medicine 9+ years ago and has gained experience in several roles throughout the field, including kennel technician, veterinary assistant, and client service representative.
Jaelyn joined the WesVet team in 2022 as a Client Service Representative and has since worked her way into her current role as Practice Manager. Today, she oversees the daily operations of WesVet’s locations, including business operations, financial management, employee leadership, and client relations. While her responsibilities have grown significantly, Jaelyn remains passionate about maintaining personal connections with WesVet’s clients and patients. She continues to take a hands-on approach to management and can frequently be found working alongside her team at the front desk.
Jaelyn has completed the Veterinary Practice Management program through Penn Foster and is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology at Trevecca Nazarene University. Outside of work, Jaelyn lives with her partner, Kyla, and their five beloved pets. She has a special place in her heart for rescue animals and understands firsthand the important role pets play in their families. Jaelyn looks forward to continuing to grow with WesVet while supporting its team and providing exceptional care and service to pets and their families.
Originally from Dallas, Texas, Madi Grace moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University, where she earned her undergraduate degree and later completed her Master’s in Counseling. Her professional journey shifted when she realized her happiest days were spent working with animals and the people who love them.
She has worked in several animal care settings, from kennels to dog-focused social spaces, and now brings her experience and empathy to WesVet’s team. Madi Grace is passionate about making each client feel heard, and every patient feel safe.
She shares her life with three beloved dogs, Samson, Rossi, and Trixie, whom she lovingly calls her best friends and soulmates. They’re the center of her world and the reason she understands just how much your pets mean to you. Outside of work, Madi Grace enjoys exploring Nashville’s dog-friendly spots, going to concerts, playing pub trivia with friends, and spending time with her pets. She’s grateful to be part of the WesVet team and loves being a small part of each pet’s journey.
Hannah has been in the veterinary field since she was 17 years old and she’s passionate about our fur babies! She started as a receptionist at a small clinic in Forsyth County, Georgia, then moved to Nashville to attend the Veterinary Technology program at Volunteer State Community College in 2015. All the while, she was working as a kennel tech/ technician assistant at a larger clinic in East Nashville.
In 2017 she married the love of her life, Micah, and later that month rescued her pup, Enzo. In 2023, they welcomed their first baby boy, Malakai!
After graduating from the Vet Tech program in 2018, she became licensed and has been working in both Emergency Medicine and Preventative medicine. Her true passions are surgery/anesthesia, inventory management, helping her team thrive, and helping teach the next generation of technicians. Meanwhile, if she’s not in the clinic practicing veterinary nursing, she’s probably either at home hanging out with her favorite guys (Micah, Malakai, and Enzo), binging a show on Netflix, reading a good book, exploring the Nashville food scene, or buying more house plants!
Jacqueline graduated with her Bachelor’s in Veterinary Nursing from Purdue University (Go Boilers!) and moved to Nashville to begin her professional career in 2024.
Jacqueline has always had a passion for animal care, and wants to ensure every patient feels loved and safe while in our care. She does not have any current pets of her own, but treats every one of your pets as such! She has a special place in her heart for dachshunds, and will always be sure to get some love from each one that comes through our doors!
If she is not at work, you will find Jacqueline spending time with friends/family, playing her electric guitar, reading, going to concerts, shopping, traveling, or simply enjoying life! She has many passions outside of veterinary medicine including music, interior design, human & animal welfare, and her faith.
She is ecstatic to be back at WesVet full-time after spending the summer of 2023 with us for her practicum!
